Meyn America, LLC has announced plans to expand its operations in Oconee County, South Carolina. The company, known for its poultry processing solutions, will invest approximately $50 million and create 172 new jobs. Meyn America is a subsidiary of Meyn Food Processing Technology B.V., specializing in manufacturing equipment and systems for the poultry industry.
The expansion involves relocating the company's Americas' manufacturing center and corporate offices from Georgia to a new 200,000-square-foot facility in the Oconee Industry and Technology Park in Westminster. This facility will include manufacturing and assembly operations along with sales, service, supply chain, and finance functions. Operations are expected to commence by spring 2027.
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits for this project and awarded a $1.5 million Set-Aside grant to assist with site preparation and construction costs.
Todd Rhodes, Vice President and General Manager Americas of Meyn Food Processing Technology, stated: “Meyn is excited to be expanding our manufacturing and corporate footprint as well as a new customer experience center in South Carolina... With this investment, Meyn will have a purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility to demonstrate Meyn’s newest innovations as well as provide maintenance trainings and continuous education seminars for our poultry processing solutions.”
Governor Henry McMaster commented on the announcement: “Once again, South Carolina’s pro-business climate and prepared workforce are attracting major investments for our state. Meyn America’s decision to expand its South Carolina operations... is great news for our state and our people.”
Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III added: “We are pleased Meyn America chose South Carolina as the new home of its manufacturing center... We congratulate Meyn America on strengthening its South Carolina legacy with this exciting announcement.”
Senate President Thomas C. Alexander remarked: "I am pleased that Meyn America has chosen to expand its existing operations in Oconee County... This dual presence strengthens our local economy."
Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers highlighted the importance of agribusiness: “Meyn America’s investment shows how important the poultry cluster... are to South Carolina’s economy.”
Jamie Gilbert from Oconee Economic Alliance expressed excitement about the project: “This is a historic day in Oconee County with Meyn America’s decision... Over the past two years we have built a strong partnership with them.”
