Governor Henry McMaster, alongside the South Carolina Department of Administration and the South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs, has announced a Veterans' Virtual Career Fair scheduled for Thursday, November 14. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and aims to assist veterans in continuing their service through state employment.

In addition to the virtual fair, a Veteran’s Career Counseling Day is set for Wednesday, November 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Phillips Market Center in West Columbia. This in-person event offers personalized career counseling and resume assistance from veterans currently employed by the state.

Governor McMaster emphasized South Carolina's commitment to being military-friendly: “Hiring men and women who served in the military strengthens our workforce, communities, and state." He added that these efforts make South Carolina an ideal place for veterans to live and work.

Marcia Adams, Executive Director of Admin, highlighted the state's dedication to connecting veterans with career opportunities: “This year’s event not only includes a way for Veterans to easily connect directly with agencies in state government that have openings both now and in the future but also hands-on resources.”

Todd B. McCaffrey, Secretary of SCDVA, expressed pride in hiring veterans: “By hiring Veterans, we’re not just honoring their commitment to our country; we’re also tapping into a wealth of talent."

The virtual career fair will feature over 40 state agencies offering positions across various fields such as accounting, engineering, healthcare, IT, and more. Each agency will host a virtual booth where job seekers can engage with human resources representatives via video chat.

Notable participating agencies include Aiken Technical College, The Citadel, College of Charleston, Medical University of South Carolina among others.

The first Veterans’ Virtual Career Fair was held in May 2021 with participation from over 330 veterans.

Veterans interested in attending can register online for this year's event.
