Wayne Brothers expands with $35.5M investment creating 170 jobs in Colleton County

Wayne Brothers, a Design-Build specialty contractor, has announced plans to expand its operations in South Carolina with a new office and operations center in Colleton County. The $35.5 million investment is expected to create 170 new jobs. With nearly four decades of experience in construction and engineering, Wayne Brothers provides turnkey concrete, civil and infrastructure, and industrial contracting services throughout the Southeast. The company is headquartered in North Carolina and also has offices in Tennessee.

The new facility will be located at 101 Venture Way in Walterboro and will function as a regional office and operations center, housing several divisions including engineering and fabrication. To support the development, the Coordinating Council for Economic Development has awarded a $750,000 Rural Infrastructure Fund grant to Colleton County for real property improvements.

Wayne Brothers CEO Keith Wayne expressed commitment to serving clients better with the new facility: “Our new regional office and operations center in Walterboro reflects our commitment to better serving our clients in the Lowcountry.”

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster highlighted the economic impact of this expansion: "Wayne Brothers' expansion into Colleton County with a $35.5 million investment and the creation of 170 new jobs is a powerful demonstration of their continued confidence in South Carolina."

Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III emphasized South Carolina's appeal for business growth: “Today’s announcement is further proof that South Carolina is an ideal location for businesses to grow and thrive.”

Colleton County Council Chairman Steve Murdaugh acknowledged Wayne Brothers’ contribution to local employment: “Colleton County appreciates Wayne Brothers’ continued investment in our community as they continue to provide good jobs.”

SouthernCarolina Alliance President Danny Black noted the regional benefits: “We are proud to have Wayne Brothers flourishing in our region, where each of the 170 new jobs will provide an opportunity for a better quality of life for a family.”
