U.S. Senator Tim Scott and a group of Senate Republicans have urged the Biden administration to keep politics out of American energy production. In a letter to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Senator Scott and his colleagues expressed concerns about false claims made by Senate Democrats regarding recent oil and gas mergers.

The senators called for a fair and unbiased review of these mergers, emphasizing the importance of assessing them based on sound economics and law to protect American consumers. They criticized Senate Democrats for opposing the mergers, which would increase oil and gas production, without similar scrutiny of actions taken by the Biden administration that could raise energy costs and limit competition.

Senator Scott and his colleagues requested that the FTC conduct a review rooted in facts, economic realities, and precedent, free from political agendas. They emphasized the need for the Commission to adhere to the rule of law and due process, rather than partisan pressures and policy preferences.

The letter to the FTC was also signed by several other Republican senators, including Ted Cruz, Lindsey Graham, and Mitch McConnell, among others.

Senator Scott has been a vocal advocate for American energy dominance and lower energy costs for Americans.
