One year after the terrorist attacks on October 7, which resulted in the deaths of dozens of Americans, U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.), Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), and the entire Senate Republican Conference have condemned Iran-backed Hamas for its actions. They have expressed support for Israel's right to self-defense and called for the release of American hostages still held by Hamas.

The Senate Republicans stand united against violent antisemitic protests and the use of rape as a weapon of war by Hamas. They emphasize Israel's right to defend itself and stress the importance of preventing Hamas from reconstituting in the region to avoid a recurrence of such events.

Senator Tim Scott stated, "One year ago, the world witnessed Hamas commit an unprovoked barbaric attack against Israeli civilians... The United States will always stand with Israel."

Senator Joni Ernst recounted her experience upon hearing about the attacks: "This time last year, I woke up in the Middle East to the unbearable news that Israel was under attack by Iran-backed terrorists and Americans were being killed and taken hostage."

Senate Republican Whip John Thune remarked, "The United States stands with Israel, on this solemn anniversary and every day, as it defends itself against terrorist entities that seek to undermine peace and stability in the region."

Senate Republican Conference Chair John Barrasso emphasized, "Our nation must provide unwavering support to Israel’s mission to defend itself and defeat Hamas."

Vice Chair of the Republican Conference Senator Shelley Moore Capito added her condemnation of Hamas's actions: "I am particularly sickened by Hamas’s use of sexual violence on this dark day..."

Senator Steve Daines commented on Iran's role: "As we saw one year ago, Iran, the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, helped Hamas fund and carry out the deadliest attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust."

The resolution presented by Senate Republicans underscores their commitment to standing with Israel. It calls for continued support for Israel as it faces threats from groups like Hezbollah in Lebanon and Houthis in Yemen.

In conclusion, Senate Republicans remain resolute in their support for Israel amid ongoing threats from Iran-backed groups. They call for solidarity with Israel and demand accountability for those responsible for these acts of terror.
