U.S. Senators Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) have spearheaded a resolution to celebrate National Charter Schools Week, highlighting the significant contributions of charter schools to the academic environment.

"With a background like I had growing up, I came to understand the power of a quality education. Throughout my time in public service, I have worked to broaden educational opportunities for children, regardless of race, zip code, or background,” said Senator Scott. “I am grateful for the positive strides charter schools have made to shape education in South Carolina and around the nation, and help the next generation achieve their American Dream!”

“In Colorado and across the country, public charter schools help ensure every student has access to high-quality education to prepare them for future success. National Charter Schools Week is an opportunity to recognize educators and school leaders for their outstanding work and dedication to their students and communities,” said Senator Bennet.

“Parents should have every option available to send their child to the school that best fits their needs. Charter schools provide that opportunity,” stated Dr. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Ranking Member. “This resolution celebrates the work of charter schools in helping students succeed in the classroom and beyond.”

Senators Scott and Bennet were joined by several other senators in supporting this resolution. The full text of the resolution can be read here.
