Attorney General Alan Wilson has announced that Britney Campbell was sentenced to 35 years in prison for sexually abusing a baby. Campbell pleaded guilty to one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor, First Degree, in Greenville County on November 4, 2024.

The case began on January 5, 2021, when the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office started an investigation following a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about the online sharing of Child Sexual Abuse Material. Law enforcement executed a search warrant at a residence in Greenville County on January 21, 2021. They seized several digital items, including a 3 TB hard drive containing images of child sexual abuse material involving an adult woman and a male infant. The investigation revealed that the images were backed up from a cell phone belonging to Britney Campbell.

Campbell was identified as living in Union, South Carolina. The case was forwarded to the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office for further action. Investigator Lucinda McKeller took over the case and executed a search warrant at Campbell's home in Union. During this time, Campbell was read her Miranda rights and interviewed. She admitted to sexually assaulting the baby on two occasions at a home in Greenville County and identified the baby in the images.

Judge Alex Kinlaw, Jr., sentenced Campbell to serve her term at the South Carolina Department of Corrections with credit for 1,341 days already served. Upon release, she will be required to register as a sex offender and will be subject to lifetime GPS monitoring.
