Komar Industries, a company known for manufacturing balers and compactors, has announced plans to establish its first South Carolina operation in York County. The move involves an investment of $11.5 million and is expected to create 160 new jobs.

The company will relocate its subsidiary, Bace, LLC, from North Carolina to an existing building at 200 Ratchford Road in York. This new operation aims to enhance Komar's manufacturing capabilities in waste and recycling compactor technology. Operations are anticipated to begin by July 2025.

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits for the project and awarded a $150,000 Set-Aside grant to York County to assist with building improvements.

"Komar Industries is pleased to expand our manufacturing network of factories with our first operation within South Carolina. We look forward to becoming an integral part of the York community and an employer of choice in the area," said Komar Industries CEO Mark Koenig.

Governor Henry McMaster commented on the relocation: "We proudly welcome Komar Industries to South Carolina. The 160 new jobs brought to York County will strengthen the region and add to the legacy that defines our manufacturing industry."
