South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of Corey Andrew Williams, a 31-year-old resident of Elloree, South Carolina. Williams faces one charge related to the sexual exploitation of a minor. The arrest was made by Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators from the Attorney General's Office. Additional support in the investigation came from the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office, Homeland Security Investigations, and U.S. Secret Service, all members of the state's ICAC Task Force.

According to investigators, Williams is accused of distributing files containing child sexual abuse material.

Williams was taken into custody on February 18, 2025. He has been charged with one count of sexual exploitation of a minor in the second degree (§16-15-405), which is classified as a felony and carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison.

The prosecution will be handled by the Attorney General's Office.

Attorney General Wilson emphasized that "all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law."

The term child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is used to more accurately describe these serious crimes, as it reflects that children involved are victims rather than participants. Globally, CSAM is replacing terms like "child pornography" to avoid implying consent.
