Washington - U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) has called for a robust debate and amendment process on the Senate's national security supplemental text. In a statement released today, Senator Graham emphasized the importance of allowing the American people's voices to be heard regarding the Biden Border Disaster.
"Now that the Senate's national security supplemental text has been released, I look forward to the amendment process to try to improve the bill," Senator Graham stated. "Something this significant cannot be rushed and jammed through. It should be subject to a robust debate and amendment process in the Senate."
Senator Graham expressed his hope that Senator Schumer would allow an open amendment process to take place. He emphasized that if this did not happen, the bill would ultimately fail due to procedural issues.
"This issue is important to the American people. We must allow their voices to be heard when it comes to the Biden Border Disaster," Senator Graham asserted.
Acknowledging the efforts of Senator Lankford and others, Senator Graham also commended their work in attempting to reform asylum, immigration parole, and expedited removal. He expressed his openness to considering steps that could strengthen the bill through the amendment process.
"Like many others, I am open-minded on steps we can take to make the bill stronger. That can only come through the amendment process," Senator Graham stated.
The release of the Senate's national security supplemental text has sparked a call for a thorough and inclusive discussion on the bill. Senator Graham's statement emphasizes the need for a proper debate and amendment process to ensure the bill's effectiveness in addressing the Biden Border Disaster.
