MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.—This holiday season, 150 Horry County children will have gifts under the Christmas tree thanks to the efforts of Substitutes for Santa, an annual charity event hosted by Grand Strand Young Professionals (GSYP) in partnership with SOS Care.
On Dec. 6, 2022, volunteers will host the students for fun and games at the Fun Warehouse followed by a shopping opportunity at Walmart in Surfside
“For this unique holiday experience, more than 150 amazing volunteers will play the role of Santa to ensure this holiday season is filled with cheer for some special young ones. Thanks to the generous contributions of our sponsors and donations made during GSYP fundraisers, each child will receive $100 worth of presents as well as a bag of household necessities,” said Caroline Yahnis, GSYP liaison and Substitutes for Santa organizer.
GSYP works closely with Horry County Schools to identify elementary-aged students who would benefit from the program. Once purchased, Two Men and A Truck will help deliver all gifts to the appropriate schools to distribute to the families.
The presenting sponsors for the 2022 Substitutes for Santa are Ryan Korros Team, Carolina Cool, Grand Strand Optimist Club and. The SkyWheel. Additional assistance to make this evening possible thanks to Fun Warehouse, Native Sons, Carolina Limo, Two Men and A Truck, Pizza Hut, Jimmy John’s Auntie Anne’s and Nothing Bundt Cakes.
