Lancaster County Government issued the following announcement on March 9.
Keep Lancaster County Beautiful is hosting a county-wide, roadside litter cleanup on Saturday, March 19, 2022.
KLCB Board members will be located throughout the county to sweep it clean and reveal Lancaster County’s natural beauty. Each of the seven county districts will hold a cleanup on this Clean Sweep Saturday.
Volunteers will begin at 10 a.m. and work for two hours. Bags, grabbers, gloves and safety vests will be supplied. Volunteers can meet at any of the following locations:
District 1 - Steele Hill AME Zion Church, 6021 Charlotte Hwy. Captain: Kristen Blanchard.
District 2 - Palmetto Citizens Against Sexual Assault, 106 North York Street. Captains: Mattie Lowery & Charquisha McGriff.
District 3 - Camp Creek Baptist Church, 998 Potter Road. Captain: Toni Flynn.
District 4 - Builders Supply Company, 501 South French Street. Captain: Greg Gregory.
District 5 - Corner of Havenwood and University Drive. Captain: Dale Sullivan.
District 6 - Heath Springs Elementary, 158 Solar Road, Heath Springs. Captain: Mark Strickland & Cherie Ellis.
District 7 - Indian Land Masonic Lodge, 9189 Charlotte Highway. Captain: Clare McConaughay.
The four county high school athletic departments are joining in to clean up in their districts.
KLCB Coordinator Mandy Catoe is encouraging the Adopt-A-Highway groups to clean their roads that day so we can all make a greater impact. Also, we are inviting businesses and homeowners to clean their strips of land along the roadways. Together, we can make a greater impact on our litter problem.
