'Serve the needs of the American textile industry': Fiber Industries announces $30 million expansion in Darlington County

Textile company Fiber Industries will expand operations in Darlington County, a move that is expected to create 50 new jobs.

A leading manufacturer of high-end American textiles, Fiber Industries will invest over $30 million, according to a press release form Gov. Henry McMaster's office. 

“We are excited about the continuing growth of our facility which is now even better positioned to serve the needs of the American textile industry. We also are proud to be part of the wider effort to reshore jobs and bring textile manufacturing back to the USA," Fiber Industries CEO Don Bockoven said in the release. "We thank the state of South Carolina as well as Darlington County for their unwavering support." 

Fiber Industries is a full-service manufacturer specializing in the production of polyester staple fiber used in high-end performance fabrics, workwear, knit goods, the automotive industry, according to the release, with 300 employees.

“We congratulate Fiber Industries’ continued success in South Carolina and the additional jobs it is creating in the Darlington County community," McMaster said in the release. "We've worked hard to create a pro-business environment in South Carolina, and Fiber Industries’ new expansion is further evidence that our strategy is paying off."

The new facility will be located at 1000 East McIver Road in Darlington, and the expansion will include increased capacity through the restoration and modernization of production lines. 

Fiber Industries is also expected to utilize additional investments to install state-of-the-art control systems and increase warehouse. 

The South Carolina Coordinating Council for Economic Development was responsible for approving the job development credits related to the Fiber Industries expansion project and also awarded Darlington County a $300,000 Rural Infrastructure Fund grant in order to assist with the total costs of building improvements, the release said.
