The deadline is March 15 for fine craft artists to enter the 20th Annual South Carolina Palmetto Hands Juried Fine Craft Competition and Exhibition, sponsored by the city of North Charleston.

"As the state’s longest-running fine craft competition and exhibition, objects selected for the show may compete for cash prizes totaling up to $6,500," according to the City of North Charleston's website. "The exhibition is presented as a component of the annual North Charleston Arts Fest, to be held May 4 to 8, 2022."

Entry fee for the contest is $15, and artists are limited to four entries. Applications can only be submitted online at NorthCharlestonArtsFest.com/apply.

Tiffany Thomas, a contemporary painter and potter from Florence, will judge the contest.

"Tiffany  was raised on a farm and experienced the ups and downs of living a farm life," the City of North Charleston's website said. "She incorporates her childhood into her paintings by using bright colors and utilizes reclaimed wood that her family discarded from old houses, buildings and dumpsters in her collage works. Her clay of choice is translucent porcelain, fired with colorful stains and glazes. Her ceramic work focuses on an array of designs, from cups and mugs to light fixtures and table pieces."

A free public reception and announcement of awards is scheduled for Wednesday, May  4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Charleston Area Convention Center, located at 5000 Coliseum Drive in North Charleston.

"This unique exhibition offers fine craft artists from across South Carolina the opportunity to exhibit their inspiring objects in the media of clay, fiber, glass, metal, wood and three-dimensional mixed  media," according to the City of North Charleston's website. "Thousands have enjoyed the refined talents of South Carolina's fine craft artists during past annual exhibitions."
