Mount Pleasant: Youth Council Asks Community to Make an Assist for Outdoor Basketball Courts

U2

Mount Pleasant issued the following announcement on November 23.

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (November 22, 2021) – The Mount Pleasant Youth Council has dedicated their 2021-2022 session to raising the $150,000 necessary to construct additional basketball courts at the Carolina Park Recreation Complex. As many residents became accustomed to and now enjoy playing outside as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Youth Council identified the need for additional outdoor public basketball courts. While a small number of outdoor courts currently exist, the demand for them is so high that it is difficult for kids to secure playing time on the courts.

The Town of Mount Pleasant has two outdoor basketball courts included in the master plan for the Carolina Park Recreation Complex that currently lack the necessary funds to construct. The $150,000 fundraising goal would construct both courts and install required lighting and fencing. Both additional courts would also be striped for four pickleball courts.

Members of the Mount Pleasant Youth Council are asking for your help in raising these funds. Please consider making your tax-exempt donation today! Donations may be submitted through the Town's GoFundMe page.
