City of Myrtle Beach issued the following announcement on August 5.

It’s been a year since Myrtle Beach’s new Solid Waste rules went into effect back in August 2020.  We hope you’ve noticed a difference in your neighborhood!  The city’s goal is to encourage customer compliance, improve community appearance and deter illegal dumping.  A few things to note include the following:  lids on solid waste containers must be closed completely; no additional garbage may be placed outside or on top of the pelican; and, customers who regularly have more garbage than fits in a pelican will be required to pay for an additional pelican.  To view all of the updates, visit https://www.cityofmyrtlebeach.com/departments/public_works_department/solid_waste_and_recycling_division.php.
