Charleston home prices rise in 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in 2017 in Charleston rose by $22,000 while total sales decreased by 29.3%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through December of 2017, there were 2,302 homes sold, with a median sale price of $282,000 - a 8.5% increase over the $260,000 median sale price for the previous year. There were 3,258 homes sold in Charleston in 2016.

The median sales tax in Charleston for the most recent year with available data, 2015, was $1,430, approximately 0.5% of the median home sale price for 2017.
