Charleston home prices rise in the fourth quarter of 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in the fourth quarter of 2017 in Charleston rose by $14,500 while total sales decreased by 39.2%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From October through December of 2017, there were 399 homes sold, with a median sale price of $282,000 - a 5.4% increase over the $267,500 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 656 homes sold in Charleston in the fourth quarter of 2016.

The median sales tax in Charleston for the most recent year with available data, 2015, was $1,430, approximately 0.5% of the median home sale price for the fourth quarter of 2017.
