South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has reported the arrest of Daniel Cole Prince, 28, from Catawba, South Carolina, on charges linked to the sexual exploitation of minors. The arrest was carried out by Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators from the York County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation was supported by the Attorney General’s Office, which is part of the state’s ICAC Task Force.

The investigation began following a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), directing attention to Prince. According to the investigators, Prince had in his possession files containing child sexual abuse material.

The arrest of Prince occurred on April 11, 2025. He faces five charges of sexual exploitation of a minor in the third degree, in breach of statute §16-15-410. Each charge carries a potential punishment of up to 10 years in prison.

The Attorney General’s Office will handle the prosecution of this case.

Attorney General Wilson highlighted that all defendants are “presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.”

Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is preferred over the term “child pornography” to avoid suggesting that the child was a consenting participant in these crimes. Globally, the terminology shift aims to more accurately depict the nature of the material and the crimes involved.
