ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, the Winthrop University College of Business Administration’s Whitton Executive Series will proudly return this fall.
“Strategy,” a panel discussion on the strategic response to the pandemic, is set for Friday, Nov. 19, at 9 a.m. in Whitton Auditorium. RSVP for the discussion.
Panelists will talk about how area industries imagined and implemented different strategies to stay viable during the COVID-19 pandemic and how they are looking toward the future. The panelists are:
*Michael Burch, chief strategy officer, Speedway Motorsports
In his role, Burch helps develop, communicate and execute strategic plans and initiatives across the company and works with key business partners on relationships. He joined Speedway Motorsports in 2003, serving first as director of business development, and then senior vice president of national sales and marketing.
Previously, he worked with several NBA teams, including the Orlando Magic and the Houston Rockets. He also worked as the vice president of marketing for the Charlotte Hornets and founded his own company, Upsell Sports, to provide marketing and sales representation for sports organizations.
He holds a master’s degree in sports management from Georgia Southern University.
*Kristopher Carroll, CEO and financial advisor, Carroll Financial
As the son of two financial planners, Carroll spent many evenings around the dinner table listening to discussions on markets, investments and client retirement plans. He has worked at Carroll Financial Associates, Inc., since 1998, where he works closely with pre-retirees and retirees with a specific focus on retirement income planning.
He holds a doctorate in financial and retirement planning from The American College of Financial Services, an M.S. in financial mathematics from the University of Chicago and an M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. He also adjunct teaches at Winthrop.
*Jennifer Miles, global account director, Cushman & Wakefield
Miles is an experienced director with extensive global, leadership and management experience with multiple Fortune 500 companies. At Cushman & Wakefield, a leading global real estate services firm, Miles has served in several roles, including global account director and transition and transformation director.
Recognizing her talents, Charlotte Business Journal named her one of its Women in Business Achievement Winners in 2020.
Miles holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Alabama and an M.B.A. from Duke University’s The Fuqua School of Business. She is also an adjunct professor at Winthrop.
