The Winthrop University track and field teams recorded several strong performances at the Charlotte Invitational, according to an April 25 announcement. Anna Conrad placed eighth in the women’s 1500 meters, earning the second-fastest time in school history.
These results are significant for Winthrop as they reflect individual and team progress ahead of upcoming championship events.
Mitchell Hill finished seventh in the men’s 800 meters with a time of 1:51.86, which ranks fifth all-time for Winthrop. Jason Krell completed the men’s 5000 meters in eleventh place with a time of 15:24.74, making him ninth fastest in school history for that event. Justin Powell took tenth place in the men’s 400 hurdles, finishing in 55.03 seconds, while Griffin McNeish secured thirteenth place in the men’s 5000 meters with a time of 15:40.88.
The men’s relay team—composed of Kendale Cooke, Jurnii Lucas, Kevin Brown, and Tristen Patterson—placed fourth overall with a combined time of 3:11.00 in the men’s 4×400-meter relay.
On the women’s side, Brianna Dooney achieved Winthrop’s third-fastest mark ever in the women’s 3000-meter steeplechase by completing it in 11:13.23. Jade Reese posted a personal best and recorded Winthrop’s fourth-fastest time ever for women’s outdoor competition by running the women’s 200 meters in just over twenty-four seconds (24.14).
The Eagles are scheduled to compete next at the Big South Conference Outdoor Championship on Monday, May 11 at noon in High Point.
