Winthrop men’s golf to compete in Big South Championship at Fripp Island

Winthrop men’s golf will compete in the 2026 Big South Conference Championship from April 26 to April 29 at Fripp Island, South Carolina. The event will take place at the Ocean Creek Course of Fripp Island Resort, with teams playing both stroke play and match play formats.

The championship is important for Winthrop as the team enters as the top seed for the first time since 2015. The Eagles have recorded a program-best average score of 289 per round this season, which is second in the conference behind Longwood’s average of 286.63.

Freshman Dylan Park leads all players in the league with a stroke average of 71.30 heading into the tournament. Sophomore Thomas Lamar holds sixth place in conference averages at 72.53, while Ashton Eubanks ranks tenth with an average of 72.96. Other members contributing to Winthrop’s strong season include Mason Kucia (73.28), Waymon Thomas (74.07), and Mason Tucker (75.19).

Throughout their season, Winthrop finished among the top seven teams in seven out of nine events and achieved three finishes within the top four places overall.

In this year’s opening round, Winthrop will be paired with Longwood and begin teeing off from the first tee at 2:10 p.m.

The Eagles’ lineup for this championship includes Dylan Park, Thomas Lamar, Ashton Eubanks, Mason Kucia, Waymon Thomas, and Mason Tucker.
