The Citadel Bulldogs are set to play the South Carolina Gamecocks in a midweek baseball matchup on April 28 at Founders Park in Columbia, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

This game is significant as both teams look to improve their records late in the season. The Bulldogs currently hold a record of 21-22 overall and 6-9 in Southern Conference play, while the Gamecocks stand at 22-23 overall and 7-14 in Southeastern Conference competition.

Trip Brown is expected to start for The Citadel, entering with a record of one win and three losses and an earned run average of 5.23. Josh Gunther will take the mound for South Carolina with two wins, three losses, and a 7.75 ERA. Weather forecasts predict temperatures ranging from a high of 77 degrees during the day to a low of 61 at night, with winds from the south-southwest at five miles per hour.

The matchup will be broadcast on SECN+, and radio coverage will be provided by Brian Giffin via stations 102.1 FM and 1450 AM. The two teams have played each other nearly two hundred times, with South Carolina leading the all-time series; however, The Citadel defeated them earlier this season by a score of eight to three.

South Carolina enters this contest after winning two out of three games against Kentucky last weekend. Their team batting average stands at .247 with notable contributions from Talmadge LeCroy (.286 average) and Will Craddock (nine home runs). On pitching, they have maintained an ERA of 4.42 across over three hundred ninety innings.

Michael Gibson was recently named Southern Conference Player of the Week after posting a .500 batting average over four games, including key performances against Georgia Southern and UNC Greensboro (UNCG). He also secured his fifth save this season—second most in conference—and has been effective both offensively and as relief pitcher.

Looking ahead, The Citadel will continue its schedule against Presbyterian Blue Hose over the coming weekend.
