South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson expressed approval following a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision. The court ruled 6-3 to limit the authority of local judges in blocking federal laws nationwide, specifically allowing President Trump’s birthright citizenship executive order to be enforced while lower courts continue to review the issue. Wilson had supported this position by joining an amicus brief.

Attorney General Wilson stated, “We thank the Supreme Court for siding with common sense and reaffirming that one judge should not have the power to grind national immigration policy to a halt.” He further emphasized that the ruling is significant for maintaining legal integrity and democratic accountability. “This is a big win for the rule of law, for the integrity of our borders, and for every American who believes in democratic accountability, not judicial activism,” he added.

Wilson assured that his office remains committed to ensuring federal laws are implemented as intended, without interference from what he described as ideologically motivated judicial decisions.

The full opinion of the court can be accessed online.
