Wright’s conviction stems from the killing of Adrian McCray, age 25, which took place outside a local convenience store on August 5, 2023.

Following the conviction, Judge S. Bryan Doby sentenced Wright to 45 years in prison.

The prosecution team included Assistant Attorneys General John P. Meadors and Caroline A. Hughes. The investigation into the incident was led by the Sumter Police Department.
