Attorney General Alan Wilson | Attorney General Alan Wilson, SC
Recent remarks by Congresswoman Nancy Mace concerning the conduct of South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson have been described as "categorically false" by the Attorney General's Office. The office asserts that Ms. Mace is either misunderstanding or deliberately misrepresenting the role of the Attorney General.
The statement clarifies that no reports or requests for assistance have been received from law enforcement or prosecution agencies regarding these matters, and neither the Attorney General nor his office had any prior knowledge of the allegations until they were publicly stated by Ms. Mace.
Despite attending several events together over the past six months and having access to his personal cellphone number, Congresswoman Mace has not approached or contacted Attorney General Wilson with her concerns, according to the statement.
Addressing Ms. Mace's claim that evidence of a crime was refused by the Attorney General, it was emphasized that as chief prosecutor, he would direct any citizen to submit such evidence to law enforcement agencies responsible for investigations.
Since taking office, Attorney General Wilson has prioritized initiatives such as strengthening the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and establishing a Human Trafficking Task Force recognized nationwide. He has also led efforts to reform domestic violence laws and created a Crime Victim Services Division to assist victims more effectively.
Before his tenure as Attorney General, Alan Wilson served successfully as an Assistant Solicitor and Assistant Attorney General, prosecuting numerous serious crimes against women and children. The statement concludes by asserting that any contrary claims about his dedication are "blatantly false and politically motivated."
