South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has reiterated his commitment to combatting human trafficking as the state's Human Trafficking Awareness Month concludes. Under Wilson's leadership, South Carolina has made significant progress in addressing this issue, although efforts continue.

Attorney General Wilson stated, "When I became Attorney General, South Carolina didn’t even have a human trafficking law on the books. That was unacceptable. I fought to pass legislation that finally made human trafficking a crime in our state, and I founded the S.C. Human Trafficking Task Force to take the fight straight to these criminals." He emphasized that if individuals engage in human trafficking within South Carolina, they will be prosecuted and incarcerated.

The state's approach under Wilson's guidance includes implementing tougher laws, enhancing law enforcement training, and forming partnerships to dismantle trafficking operations. The Attorney General's Office and the S.C. Human Trafficking Task Force have been pivotal in these efforts.

Wilson added, "This is not just an awareness campaign—it’s a war. We are taking the fight directly to the traffickers, and we will not stop until every single one of them is behind bars."

The Attorney General encourages residents of South Carolina to participate by reporting suspicious activities and supporting survivors.
