U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham has announced new funding allocations from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for several water infrastructure projects in South Carolina. The funding includes $28 million for a project in North Myrtle Beach aimed at preventing flooding and improving water quality, $7.9 million for the Lakes Marion and Moultrie water infrastructure project, and $7.6 million for stormwater and drainage systems in Charleston.

These funds are part of the recent disaster supplemental under the American Relief Act of 2025, which Senator Graham supported. "I appreciate the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers listening to South Carolina’s needs," said Graham. "Each of these projects will be necessary and beneficial when it comes to defending our state against natural disasters and improving water quality and infrastructure."

Graham had previously led a letter to the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, advocating for prioritization of funding for the North Myrtle Beach project. He has also been a consistent supporter of other funded projects as a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, making several congressionally directed spending requests over the years.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers outlined specific allocations: $28 million will go towards designing and constructing Phase I of the Ocean Outfalls and Stormwater Mitigation Project in North Myrtle Beach; $7.9 million is designated for Orangeburg County's Lodge Hall Reach Water Transmission Pipeline related to Lakes Marion and Moultrie; $7.6 million is allocated to rehabilitate Charleston's Brick Arches Stormwater System and Dupont Wapoo Drainage Outlet.
