NFIB State Director Ben Homeyer announced that 92 South Carolina legislators, comprising 18 senators and 74 representatives, achieved a perfect NFIB Voting Record during the 2023-24 legislative session.
"South Carolina’s small businesses are fortunate to have a governor and legislative leaders who understand the critical role local businesses play in the state’s economy," Homeyer stated. He highlighted the passage of key components of the Small Business Bill of Rights during this year's General Assembly session. "We hope the House and Senate will continue to support small businesses in next year’s session by passing long-needed legislation that helps stop lawsuit abuse in the state."
The NFIB Voting Record for this period includes seven significant votes from both chambers on issues deemed important to small businesses.
It is noted by Thompson that the NFIB Voting Record does not account for every consideration a lawmaker might weigh when voting, nor does it provide a complete profile of a legislator. It also overlooks contributions made by many legislators supporting small business interests within committees.
