U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina engaged in a questioning session with Pam Bondi, President Donald Trump's nominee for Attorney General. The discussion took place as part of the confirmation process, addressing key issues related to national security and justice.

Graham highlighted the challenges facing Bondi if confirmed, stating, “You have a real task ahead of you in two areas. To restore trust to many Americans who have lost trust in the Department of Justice, and to make sure that this country is safe from drug cartels that are killing 3,000 Americans every two weeks for money… and to protect our homeland that’s under siege." He expressed his support by saying, "I think you’re the perfect pick at one of the most dangerous times in American history."

When asked about potential threats from ISIS or its affiliates, Bondi admitted her concerns: “Senator, I don’t have a security clearance yet, but only from the public reporting that I’ve seen, I’m terrified.”

The conversation also touched on border security and detention facilities. Graham questioned whether more bed space was needed at Border Patrol facilities to prevent cases like Laken Riley's. Bondi responded by emphasizing her commitment to safety: “Senator, my job, if confirmed as Attorney General, will be to keep America safe.” She added that having enough space for violent criminals is essential.

Regarding the threat posed by ISIS post-Afghanistan withdrawal, Bondi agreed with Graham's assessment that threats had increased: “Yes,” she said when asked if they were at war with ISIS.

Finally, Graham queried Bondi on her stance regarding drug cartels in Mexico being classified as foreign terrorist organizations. She acknowledged their significant threat: “… They are a grave and violent threat to our country. Yes, Senator.”
