U.S. Senator Tim Scott from South Carolina issued a statement regarding the recent hostage agreement between Israel and Hamas. The agreement is set to free 33 hostages held by Hamas since the attacks on October 7, 2023.

Senator Scott reflected on a historical event, stating, “Forty-four years ago, at the dawn of a new presidency, 52 Americans were released from the clutches of a brutal Iranian regime, setting the tone for a new era of American strength and leadership on the global stage.” He expressed hope that today's deal could bring similar peace prospects.

The senator conveyed his gratitude, saying, “I’m grateful to God that 33 hostages are set to be freed from the Hamas terrorists they’ve been suffering under since the brutal attacks of October 7, 2023.” Despite this progress, Scott emphasized that more efforts are needed to ensure all hostages are released. He affirmed his commitment to working with the Trump administration towards this goal: “I am committed to keeping up the pressure and working hand-in-hand with the Trump administration to secure the release of every single hostage.”
