U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham and Tommy Tuberville have introduced the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2025. The bill aims to maintain Title IX protections for female athletes, ensuring safe and fair competition in women's sports across the United States.

Senator Graham stated, "We have to stand up to the radical Left now before it’s too late. This legislation is much-needed to protect the integrity and safety of women’s sports. I appreciate Senator Tuberville’s leadership and was glad to join my colleagues in this effort."

Senator Tuberville expressed his views by referencing former President Trump's stance on women's sports, saying, "President Trump ran on the issue of saving women’s sports and won in a landslide. 70% of Americans agree—men don’t belong in women’s sports or locker rooms." He further added, "I am welcoming my first granddaughter this spring and won’t stop fighting until her rights to fairly compete are protected."

The proposed legislation has garnered support from several other U.S. Senators including Jim Banks, John Barrasso, Marsha Blackburn, Katie Britt, Ted Budd, Shelley Moore Capito, Tom Cotton, Kevin Cramer, Mike Crapo, Steve Daines, Joni Ernst, Bill Hagerty, Cindy Hyde-Smith, Ron Johnson, John Kennedy, James Lankford, Mike Lee, Cynthia Lummis, Roger Marshall, Rand Paul, Pete Ricketts, Jim Risch, Eric Schmitt, Rick Scott (R-Florida), Tim Scott (R-South Carolina), Tim Sheehy (R-Montana), Dan Sullivan (R-Arkansas), Thom Tillis (R-North Carolina), and Roger Wicker.

The act specifies that Title IX provisions should treat gender based on reproductive biology and genetics at birth. It also prohibits recipients of federal funding from supporting athletic programs that allow males to participate in women's sporting events.

Endorsements for the bill come from Independent Women’s Voice along with Concerned Women for America and Heritage Action for America.
