U.S. Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina is set to make history as he becomes the longest-serving Black Senator in the United States with the commencement of the 119th Congress. Additionally, Scott will take on a significant leadership role as the first Black Chairman of a Senate standing committee, specifically heading the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee.

In his statement regarding these developments, Senator Scott emphasized his commitment to representing South Carolinians and promoting his Opportunity Agenda. He aims to provide all Americans with opportunities to achieve their version of the American Dream.

"As we begin the 119th Congress, Senate Republicans have high enthusiasm and are focused on delivering for the American people!" stated Senator Scott. "This Congress, I am thrilled to serve as the Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Committee."

Scott outlined his primary goal: "My goal is simple: make America work for Americans." He expressed eagerness to collaborate with President Trump on key priorities aimed at equipping Americans with necessary tools and resources for success.

Senator Scott has been appointed to six committees for this congressional session, including serving as Chairman of both the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
