Bondex, a prominent manufacturer in the technical nonwoven industry, has announced plans to expand its operations in Edgefield County, South Carolina. The company will invest $18.8 million into this expansion, which is expected to create 13 new jobs.
Established in 1997 and part of Andrew Industries Limited, Bondex specializes in producing innovative nonwovens and specialty roll goods. Its products cater to a variety of markets such as filtration, automotive, and laundry felt for customers around the world.
The expansion involves adding a new needlepunch line and increasing production capacity at Bondex's facility located at 2 Maxwell Drive in Trenton. Operations have already commenced, and those interested in employment opportunities can visit the company's careers page.
Bondex President Brian Little expressed pride in strengthening their presence in Edgefield County with this expansion. South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster celebrated Bondex's decision to expand within the state. "Whenever a company decides to expand within our borders, it is a win for South Carolina," he said.
Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III highlighted that Bondex's announcement reflects South Carolina's support for existing businesses. He congratulated both Bondex and Edgefield County on this investment which will generate new job opportunities locally.
Edgefield County Council Chairman Dean Campbell noted that county efforts have facilitated industrial success over recent years, with several expansions by Bondex confirming profitability. Western SC Economic Development Partnership Chairman Gary Stooksbury also praised the longstanding relationship between Bondex and Edgefield County, emphasizing the quality of products made by the company.
