BENTELER Automotive Corporation has announced an expansion of its operations in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. The automotive supplier is investing $47.9 million to enhance its manufacturing and assembly facility located at 1255 Howell Road in Duncan.
The company, which is part of the global BENTELER Group, provides automotive-welded assemblies and modules to car manufacturers worldwide. Its products include chassis systems, structures, exhaust systems, and engine applications. This investment will focus on building improvements as well as updated machinery, fixtures, and furnishings.
Chad Nelson, the Plant Manager at BENTELER's Spartanburg facility stated, “We are excited to expand our manufacturing facility here in Spartanburg. This investment will enable us to improve our equipment and facilities technology to support the thriving automotive industry.”
South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster remarked on the significance of this development for the region: “South Carolina continues to build on its reputation as a global leader in the automotive industry, and BENTELER’s announcement today is further proof.”
Harry M. Lightsey III, Secretary of Commerce for South Carolina added, “BENTELER’s expansion reinforces that South Carolina is a place where businesses can grow, thrive and build a legacy.”
David Britt from the Spartanburg County Council expressed his congratulations saying, “Advanced manufacturing has long been the bread-and-butter for Spartanburg County... congratulations to them for making Spartanburg County their home and growing their success here.”
BENTELER first opened its Spartanburg facility in 2006 and with this new investment aims to continue being a preferred supplier in the automotive sector.
