Team South Carolina County Day set for October 22 in Greenwood

Governor Henry McMaster, along with Lieutenant Governor Pamela S. Evette, announced that state and federal officials, as well as representatives from nonprofit organizations, will convene for another Team South Carolina County Day in Greenwood on Tuesday, October 22. This event is aimed at providing local residents affected by Hurricane Helene with a centralized opportunity to access disaster relief resources.

The event will feature participation from numerous agencies offering various forms of assistance. The S.C. Department of Agriculture will gather impact data in preparation for upcoming Farm Recovery Centers. The S.C. Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services will provide counseling resources and substance use prevention services.

Other departments such as the S.C. Department of Consumer Affairs will offer guidance on recovering from disasters while protecting against scams and identity theft. The S.C. Department of Disabilities and Special Needs will supply information about services available to individuals with disabilities.

Additionally, the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce will share information on unemployment benefits including Disaster Unemployment Assistance, alongside employment services.

Agencies such as the S.C. Department of Environmental Services will aid private drinking well owners by offering free test kits for wells impacted by floodwaters.

Healthcare-related assistance includes the S.C. Department of Health and Human Services providing information on healthcare services and Medicaid; meanwhile, the S.C. Department of Public Health will offer educational resources related to Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), along with onsite Tdap and flu vaccines.

Further support comes from the S.C. Emergency Management Division which coordinates individual disaster assistance with FEMA while also distributing emergency preparedness guides.

The event details are as follows: it takes place on Tuesday, October 22nd from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Piedmont Technical College's James Medford Family Event Center located at 609 South Emerald Road in Greenwood, serving residents from Greenwood, McCormick, and Abbeville Counties.
