Maxwood Furniture has announced an expansion of its operations in Marion County, South Carolina. The company, which specializes in the manufacture and distribution of solid wood furniture, is investing $6 million in this project. This investment is expected to create 43 new jobs.

The company, headquartered in Charleston County, plans to expand its existing distribution center located at 720 West Liberty St. in Marion. The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to this project and awarded a $200,000 Rural Infrastructure Fund grant to Marion County for building improvements.

Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III also extended congratulations: “Congratulations to Maxwood Furniture on this expansion which will create 43 new jobs in our state.
