Governor Henry McMaster and Lieutenant Governor Pamela S. Evette have announced additional Team South Carolina County Days to aid residents affected by Hurricane Helene. These events will take place in Clinton on October 15, Allendale on October 17, and Aiken on October 18.
Team South Carolina County Days offer a comprehensive platform for residents to access disaster relief resources. Agencies participating include the S.C. Department of Agriculture, which will gather impact data for Farm Recovery Centers, and the S.C. Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services, providing counseling and substance use prevention resources.
The S.C. Department of Disabilities and Special Needs will offer information for individuals with disabilities, while the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce will provide details on unemployment benefits and employment services.
Private drinking well owners can receive assistance from the S.C. Department of Environmental Services, including free test kits if their wells are impacted by floodwaters. The S.C. Department of Health and Human Services will provide information about healthcare services and Medicaid.
The event also includes guidance from the S.C. Department of Insurance regarding insurance claims and fraud prevention, as well as fire safety tips from the S.C. Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.
Mental health resources will be available through the S.C. Department of Mental Health, alongside assistance from the S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles for attending citizens.
The S.C. Department of Public Health will offer educational resources for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), along with onsite vaccinations against Tdap and flu.
Other departments involved include Social Services with SNAP benefit guidance, Aging with senior services information, Veterans Affairs with veteran services details, Emergency Management Division coordinating disaster assistance with FEMA, Housing Authority offering rental listings and home repair resources, Office of Resilience providing disaster case managers for unmet needs intake processes.
FEMA will assist with financial aid registration related to storm damage while the US Small Business Administration offers help applying for disaster loans.
Nonprofit organizations such as United Way Association of South Carolina/AmeriCorps SC will inform about community volunteer opportunities alongside One SC Fund's nonprofit resource support during disaster relief efforts.
These events are scheduled as follows:
- October 15 at Piedmont Technical College in Clinton
- October 17 at USC Salkehatchie in Allendale
- October 18 at USC Aiken Convocation Center in Graniteville
