U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has committed to visiting Aiken County and the Savannah River area in South Carolina. This decision follows a conversation between Graham and a FEMA representative, where he urged immediate contact with local officials due to significant devastation in the region.

FEMA representatives are set to tour Aiken County alongside Aiken County Council Chairman Gary Bunker and Silver Bluff Fire Chief Kerry Green. "Aiken County is appreciative of the support provided by Sen. Lindsey Graham and his staff," stated Council Chairman Bunker. He added, "Within hours after his commitment to provide FEMA support, we had a point of contact lined up from the agency."

Bunker emphasized that key concerns include clearing roads, picking up storm debris, and rebuilding the power network, which was severely damaged during last Friday's storm.

Senator Graham expressed gratitude for FEMA's quick response as well as local leadership efforts. "I really appreciate FEMA’s prompt response to my request," said Graham. He noted that while North Augusta has been particularly affected, residents are persevering through challenging conditions.

Graham anticipates an influx of resources to aid recovery efforts in both Aiken County and across the Savannah River region.
