U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) hosted the 14th Annual South Carolina Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., on July 24, 2024. The event saw participation from Senator James Lankford (R-Okla.), Senate Chaplain Barry Black, members of the South Carolina congressional delegation, and hundreds of South Carolinians.

Senator Scott centered his remarks around Proverbs 13:12: "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life." He elaborated on this theme by stating, "I talked a lot about hope deferred makes the heart sick because it does, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life. The really good news about this is that the longer it takes, the sweeter it is. Sometimes it takes a very long time for us to be able to see the fruit on the tree."

Scott continued by addressing the challenges faced in personal growth and perseverance. "Tilling the soil takes time and it is hard. Breaking up tough ground is hard. It’s even harder when it’s you, and all of us have areas that are hardened from pain, hardened from misery, hardened from challenges, hardened by life. But the good news is He is more than able to meet you where you are," he said.

The event also featured an opportunity for attendees to view an event photo gallery.
