Schneider Electric, a prominent figure in energy management and automation, announced today its plans to expand operations in Oconee and Richland counties, South Carolina. The company's combined investment of $23.8 million is expected to create 280 new jobs throughout 2024.

A global leader in industrial technology, Schneider Electric provides energy-efficient and sustainability solutions to customers across 150 countries. As a member of The South Carolina Nexus for Advanced Resilient Energy (SC NEXUS), the company supports advanced energy generation, transmission, distribution, and storage within the state and promotes the clean energy transition nationwide.

The expansion includes significant developments at two facilities. In Oconee County, located at 1990 Sandifer Blvd. in Seneca, Schneider Electric's engineer-to-order facility will see HVAC electrification improvements and the creation of 130 new jobs. This site manufactures low-voltage motor control centers, panelboard boxes and trims, as well as lighting and PowerLink panelboards.

In Richland County, Schneider Electric's facility at 8821 Garners Ferry Road in Hopkins will also undergo enhancements that will result in 150 new jobs. This location focuses on producing NW breakers, low-voltage switchgear, and switchboards.

Hiring for both facilities is set to take place throughout the year. Prospective employees can find more information on the company’s Seneca careers page for Oconee County opportunities or the Columbia careers page for Richland County opportunities.

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to these projects.

"As our economy becomes more digitized and electrified, Schneider Electric is spearheading this transformation through investments in a robust domestic supply chain of key technologies," said Aamir Paul, President of North America Operations at Schneider Electric. "By improving our factory efficiency and growing our talented South Carolina workforce, we’re further contributing to the revitalization of American manufacturing."

Governor Henry McMaster expressed his support: "As a result of our state’s skilled workforce and business-friendly environment, global leaders like Schneider Electric are finding success. We congratulate Schneider Electric on these expansions."

Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III added: "We are excited to witness the impact these investments have in Oconee and Richland counties and applaud Schneider Electric’s commitment to grid resilience in our state."
