U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham and Tom Cotton, along with 25 Senate Republicans, have sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland and Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, urging immediate action to protect Jewish students on college campuses from anti-Semitic mobs. The Senators emphasized the need for restoring order and ensuring the safety of Jewish students who have been targeted.
In the letter, the Senators stated, "You need to take action to restore order and protect Jewish students on our college campuses. President Biden issued a statement on Sunday, purporting to condemn the outbreak of anti-Semitism. If that statement was serious, it must be accompanied by immediate action from your departments."
Furthermore, the Senators highlighted the violation of federal immigration law by those supporting terrorists such as Hamas, emphasizing that such actions are grounds for deportation. They requested an update from the Attorney General and the Secretary of Education on efforts to enforce these laws on college campuses by a specific deadline.
The letter was also signed by a list of U.S. Senators, including John Barrasso, Marsha Blackburn, Ted Cruz, Mitch McConnell, and others, showing strong support for the initiative to protect Jewish students.
The Senators called for a prompt response from the Biden administration to address the concerning situation on college campuses and ensure the safety and well-being of Jewish students.
