WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) announced his support for the supplemental funding package under consideration by the Senate this week, emphasizing the importance of standing with allies and ensuring national security. Senator Scott highlighted the significance of the package in a statement, saying, "This is an essential step in standing shoulder-to-shoulder with our ally Israel and providing meaningful action as they defend their people from Iran and its terrorist proxies."

Expressing his backing for the national security package, Senator Scott acknowledged its imperfections but emphasized the role it plays in keeping Americans and allies safe. He also criticized President Biden's foreign policies, stating, "The President has chosen to pander to his radical base. This not only undermines our allies, it emboldens Iran and sends a dangerous signal."

Senator Scott further underlined the importance of addressing domestic concerns, specifically highlighting the inclusion of his FEND Off Fentanyl Act in the supplemental funding. He explained, "Of critical importance to Americans here at home is my FEND Off Fentanyl Act, which is included and will target the financial assets of the criminal groups in China and Mexico poisoning our communities and profiting off the backs of Americans suffering from addiction."

Throughout his tenure, Senator Scott has been a vocal advocate for a robust U.S. stance towards Iran and staunch support for Israel. As the Ranking Member of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, he has been actively involved in pushing back against the Biden administration's approach to economic sanctions and sanctions relief for Iran.

The Senator's efforts have also extended to combating the opioid crisis, with his FEND Off Fentanyl Act aiming to disrupt the operations of criminal groups involved in the illicit drug trade. Additionally, the supplemental funding includes a provision from his Revoke Iranian Funding Act to enhance oversight of Iran sanctions and hold the Biden administration accountable for its actions.

In conclusion, Senator Scott's support for the supplemental funding bill reflects his commitment to national security, alliance with Israel, and addressing pressing issues affecting Americans at home.
