WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) delivered the “charge to the president” at the inauguration of the new Charleston Southern University President Dr. Keith Faulkner. Senator Scott, a proud graduate of Charleston Southern University, encouraged President Faulkner to lead the university with a hunger for knowledge and thirst for Christ.

In his remarks, Senator Scott expressed his gratitude for President Faulkner's vision, stating, "I am so thankful that as I’ve heard testimony after testimony—from the students who have interacted with you, to your friends who have come to support you—that one thing is completely true: that you are a man with a vision."

Senator Scott also shared a verse and a prayer for President Faulkner, saying, "Thank God we have a new visionary to lead the Charleston Southern family to new heights. My verse for you, sir, is Ephesians 3:30, ‘That God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or imagine.’ And I pray that we receive a bountiful harvest because you will be asking for things that will be hard for others to imagine because your leadership is a blessing from the Almighty to all of us who claim the Charleston Southern family as ours."

The ceremony marked a significant moment for Charleston Southern University as they welcomed their new president with Senator Scott's inspiring words and blessings.
