U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) has expressed his opposition to the final passage of supplemental funding legislation. In a statement, Senator Scott emphasized his unwavering support for Israel and his commitment to providing the necessary resources for the country's defense against Hamas terrorists.

"I have always stood by our greatest ally in the Middle East, Israel, especially in the face of unspeakable atrocities at the hands of Hamas terrorists. And I have consistently supported providing Israel with the resources it needs to defend itself and defeat Hamas," stated Senator Scott.

However, the senator voiced concerns about the bill's provision that links Israel's funding to the allocation of more than three times that amount to Ukraine. He warned that this could potentially allow President Biden to pressure Israel into acting in the administration's interest, rather than its own.

"Dems are using the crisis Israel is facing to fund their preferred priorities. We should first secure our southern border, second provide resources to Israel, third assist our allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific, and fourth make sure we have additional accountability woven into the resources we provide Ukraine. This bill falls far short of that standard," Senator Scott asserted.

Last week, Senator Scott introduced three amendments to the supplemental bill, focusing on key priorities. These amendments aimed to prioritize border wall construction at the U.S.-Mexico border, abolish the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) due to its alleged antisemitic and terrorism-complicit nature, and establish greater oversight of foreign land purchases near U.S. military bases and sensitive sites.

Senator Scott's firm support for Israel and his efforts to combat terrorism and ensure accountability in foreign aid have been consistent throughout his career. His amendments reflect his commitment to safeguarding American interests and those of its allies.

As the debate on supplemental funding legislation continues, Senator Scott's opposition underscores the need for a comprehensive approach that addresses multiple priorities while ensuring the security and well-being of the United States and its allies.
