(COLUMBIA, S.C.) – The South Carolina Human Trafficking Task Force, under the leadership of Attorney General Alan Wilson, is hosting a southeastern state-level human trafficking law enforcement convening in Columbia on JUN 29, 2023. The goal is to build a stronger network of those working on both sex and labor trafficking cases across the southeast states.

The representation at today’s event includes members of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Alabama State Bureau of Investigation, Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and Kentucky State Police.

“It is an honor to host state law enforcement who are actively involved in investigating human trafficking cases across the eight southeastern states,” said Attorney General Alan Wilson. “It is my hope that this convening will position agents to continue to strengthen networks and the ability to respond to the crime.”

The South Carolina Human Trafficking Task Force Law Enforcement Subcommittee, under the leadership of SLED Captain Connie Sonnefeld and Lieutenant Jade Roy, is hosting the event as an opportunity for information sharing and discussions around reporting cases, investigations, and challenges within the region. South Carolina Law Enforcement Division Chief Mark Keel was also present to speak to the group.
