A facelift of Clemson's University's Memorial Stadium’s is underway, and like any surgery, the end result should feature few scars and an improved look.

Phase 1 of the upgrades to the home of Tigers' football team kicked off in November with demolition and dismantling work.

“The first phase is scheduled to be completed prior to the 2022 football season. Phase II of the project, scheduled to begin after the 2022 season, includes an update to Lot 5  (Rogers Family Lot) and updates to the team areas of the first level of the WestZone,” Clemson said in an update on its athletics website.

The renovations include adding a WestZone Concourse Club; a new video board, lights and sound; and the East Entry at Howard’s Rock.

The WestZone Concourse Club will create about 600 outdoor seats with an adjoining indoor club space on the concourse level.

The video board on the east side of the stadium has been removed to make room for a new one that will be "four times larger" than the previous board.

The Tiger mascot that was atop the video board has been put into safe storage.

Changes to the east side required the removal of Howard’s Rock and pedestal, two visually recognizable components of the stadium that are in a secure place.

Associate Athletic Director for Facility Management & Capital Projects Eric Sabin is in charge of the project.
