The Clemson football team blanked South Carolina with dominating, 30-0 win over the Gamecocks on Nov. 27 in front of 79,897 fans at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia.

''I want to apologize to our fans for that performance,'' South Carolina coach Shane Beamer told the Associated Press after the game. ''It starts with me as head coach.''

According to the AP, the shutout is the first for the Gamecocks (6-6) since their 28-0 loss to Virginia in the Belk Bowl three years ago.

Will Shipley ran for 128 yards and a touchdown, and B.T. Potter added ran for a pair of scores to power the bowl bound Tigers (9-3) to their fifth straight win. Clemson will face Iowa State in the Cheez-It Bowl on Dec. 29 in Orlando, Florida.

At 6-6, South Carolina is also bowl eligible and will travel to Charlotte, North Carolina, to face North Carolina in the Duke's Mayo Bowl on Dec. 30.

The Tigers ran roughshod over the Gamecocks to beat their intrastate rival for the seventh straight time. Clemson outrushed the South Carolina 265-43.

''There's nothing more demoralizing than to have the ball run on you,'' said Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott after the game.

When asked about Clemson's defense, Beamer added, "They're really, really good. They've got guys all over that defensive line that were recruited by everybody in the country, and they're extremely, extremely well coached. I mean, they play hard, they are in the right place at the right time. They do so much defensively.

"My hat's off to them because they're able to execute so many different things, and it's hard to get a bead on them and what they're doing. They do a great job coaching, and it showed tonight."
