Clemson sophomore defensive end Myles Murphy earned ACC Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week in recognition for his performance in the Tigers' 30-20 win over Florida State on Saturday, according to a team press release.

The other recipient was Florida State defensive end Jermaine Johnson II.

“The honor is Clemson’s first for a defensive lineman this season and its first since Justin Foster won ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week for his performance against Louisville in 2019,” the release said.

Murphy, a 6-foot-5, 275-pounder from Marietta, Georgia, registered five tackles (three for loss), including two sacks to match his career-high of the two quarterback tackles he made in his collegiate debut at Wake Forest last season, according to the release.

Since 1968, the program has tallied 549 weekly honors including eight honors this season. 

The weekly honor was Murphy’s first of the season and second overall since he began playing when he notched an ACC Rookie of the Week selection in the Tigers' 41-10 over Virginia Tech last season.  

Aside from Murphy, teammates running back Will Shipley and punter Will Spiers also received national recognition for their performances against the Seminoles.

Shipley garnered a Hornung Award Honor Roll selection after 31 touches, a season-high 128 yards and two touchdowns, along with the 21-yard rushing score that clinched the victory with under three minutes left to play, according to the release.

Spiers' punts averaged 51.5 yards to earn him the Ray Guy Award “Ray’s 8”, according to the release.
