Global flooring provider Shaw Industries Group, Inc., is expanding its operations and creating 300 new jobs in Aiken County.

A supplier of carpet, resilient, hardwood, laminate, tile and stone, synthetic turf, and other specialty products for residential and commercial markets, Shaw Industries said in a release from Gov. Henry McMaster's office that it will expand operations at its 136 East Frontage Road location in Aiken. 

“Our expansion in Aiken represents a significant, long-term investment in our people and processes that will allow us to meet current and future projected market demand for high-quality carpet products," David Morgan, Shaw Industries executive vice president of operations, said in the release. "This investment positions Shaw well for the future and represents tremendous career opportunities for current and future associates." 

With an investment of approximately $400 million and 300 new jobs, Shaw's manufacturing facility will be specifically used to create fiber that is used to manufacture residential carpets, according to the governor's office release.

“The expansion of Shaw Industries Group, Inc.’s operations in Aiken County signals yet another vote of confidence by this great company in South Carolina and our people," McMaster said. "Congratulations to Shaw on this $400 million investment that will create more than 300 new jobs for our citizens."

Currently employing over 600 workers at its Aiken location, Shaw's expansion will provide an increase for the company’s manufacturing capacity while continuing to support future growth for new products, the release said. 

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved of the job development credits that will be used for the project, while Aiken County was also awarded two Set-Aside grants, bringing funds to a total of $1,750,000 that will be used to assist with costs related to the project.

Shaw's expansion is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
